Quantum Accelerometer is an emerging precision sensing technology that leverages the principles of quantum mechanics to measure acceleration with extremely high accuracy. Unlike conventional accelerometers that rely on mechanical structures or micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), quantum accelerometers use the wave nature of atoms to detect motion. This allows them to achieve exceptional sensitivity, long-term stability, and resistance to environmental noise.

At the core of a quantum accelerometer is atom interferometry. In this process, atoms are cooled to near absolute zero temperatures using laser cooling techniques, placing them in a quantum state where they behave like coherent waves. These atomic waves are then split, allowed to travel along different paths, and recombined. When acceleration occurs, it changes the relative phase between the paths, producing an interference pattern that can be precisely measured to determine motion.
